Where wood is turned, splinters must fall

On this page Lothar speaks about one of his favourite hobbies.Since time immemorial the renewable material of wood have appeal with people.Even you can craft little artful objects from old waste wood, e.g. Egg cups, candle holder and napkin rings. It fascinates me that there is more and more an incipient interest in little hand-made commodities. A breakfast table will be more comfortable with wooden egg cups or napkin rings and so on.A burning candle on a lathed candle holder shines in a new splendor.Give it a try and you're in the right.Lathe work is an age old craft and is quite popular around the world. In some parts of the world, Marocco for example, lathe work is done in a fare more primitive way than what I am able to do even with my "antique " wood turning machine. On a Trip in 2005 we saw wonderful works produced by a man using what looks like a " fiddlestick" . Click here to see this marvelous artisan at work.Using the lathe is a fabulous hobby and one wherein you can make "one-of-a-kind" tools for the home. Not only is each of mine unique the objact is also signed by the maker.
